Deadly San Francisco Intersection Takes Another Life

Sloat and 19th Avenue is one of the most dangerous intersections in the city of San Francisco. Last year, this intersection claimed seven fatal injuries. Wednesday, two cars, in a head-on collision, claimed the life of a 21-year-old pedestrian. An unidentified mother and her toddler were also struck, but survived, with moderate injuries.

Muni Bus Strikes Pedestrian

Early Tuesday morning, a Muni Bus struck a pedestrian at the corner of 6th and Market Street, in San Francisco, California. Passengers on the bus screamed at the driver to stop, but it was too late, the bus slammed right into the woman. The pedestrian survived, but suffered severe injuries. Police are currently investigating the incident, which is the 18th pedestrian versus Muni accident this year.

Muni Rider Rescued by Fellow Riders

An unidentified man narrowly escaped horrific injuries Tuesday evening. As the unknown man attempted to board a Muni train, his hand became caught in the door. Panicked passengers tried to stop the train. Just as the man was inches away from the wall of a tunnel entrance, one rider managed to stop the train by triggering an emergency release. The man refused medical treatment, and his whereabouts are unknown.

Woman Tragically Killed in Train Accident

Britta Aker, who was just 27-years-old, was killed early yesterday morning when she walked across Union Pacific Railroad tracks in Newark, California. Our hearts go out to the family of this young woman; especially knowing that it will be difficult for them to recover damages for civil liability. This is true because most courts will hold that railroad tracks themselves are sufficient warning to the danger of being struck by a train, and therefore tend to rule in favor of the defendant railway company.

Trucker Chases Hat: Struck by SUV.

Rick Uvaney, a trucker, survived being struck by a SUV in Canton, Ohio with relatively few injuries earlier this week. Uvaney pulled off the freeway to secure his load, when a sudden gust of wind blew his baseball cap he had worn for years into the median. Uvaney walked over to retrieve his hat, and was struck by an SUV. Uvaney's injuries, a broken wrist and dislocated shoulder, could have been much worse. This is a good reminder to remember the old lesson: look both ways before crossing.

Reckless Teen Kills Three in Deadly Auto Accident

Last night a reckless teenage driver took the lives of three others, as he raced at nearly triple the speed limit on a curvy road in Almaden Valley, San Jose. This auto fatality occurred when the reckless driver first struck an elderly couple who were pedestrians standing at the side of the road, and then smashed into two trees. The elderly couple, the driver, and his passenger all suffered fatal injuries. Police believe alcohol and inexperience to be the primary collision factors. Relatives of the victims should consult auto accident attorneys to discuss possible wrongful death claims, or how to make an uninsured motorist claim.

Hit-and-run Victim Survives Serious Head Injury

Last Sunday at approximately 10:00 p.m. a motorist struck a pedestrian at the crossing of Amador Valley Boulevard and Regional Street in Dublin. Paramedics rushed the victim to a local hospital for treatment of a serious head injury. The victim required 12 staples on his head, but survived. A witness phoned police and followed the driver until police arrived and apprehended the suspect. Police later charged the driver with hit-and-run and possession of narcotics. Wife Runs Over Husband, Drags Him to his Death

In a tragic auto accident that occurred in San Francisco's Chinatown district on Saturday night around 8:15 p.m., an elderly woman accidently ran over her husband while backing out of her driveway, then dragged him to his death. Paramedics rushed the victim to San Francisco General Hospital, but he did not survive the serious injuries he sustained. The accident occurred at Mason and Washington Streets, in the driveway of the couple's Chinatown home. The driver faces no charges. For additional information, click here.

Berkeley Pedestrian Dies From Head Injuries

A Livermore California man who was struck last month in the crosswalk by a careless driver while crossing Telegraph Avenue at Blake Street , sustained severe head injuries, and died this last Thursday. According to the Berkeley PD, the negligent driver was arrested for driving while impaired. There may be further charges now that this is a wrongful death . Walk defensively! Even though you are in a crosswalk, you need to watch out for drunk or stoned drivers.

Car Hits Pedestrian in Port Arthur

A woman walking on Ninth Avenue in Port Arthur was hit by a car this morning. The pedestrian was airlifted to the hospital after the accident. Her name has not been released.

Upon investigation it appears a vehicle was traveling south in the 7200 block of Ninth Avenue when a pedestrian, walking in the roadway, was truck. The driver of the vehicle advised police he did not see the woman and was unsure of her exact location prior to the accident, according to a press release from the PAPD.

The police are still investigating the accident. They do not believe alcohol or drugs were the reason the driver hit the woman. It is unknown the extent of her injuries or her condition at this time.
